I wish someone had told me this earlier, so sharing in case it helps someone else.
Part of chemo (at least for me) was the swing between constipation and diarrhoea in the days after treatment. They give you meds to soften things, but you can still end up straining—and that can lead to hemorrhoids, which are the last thing you need on top of everything else.
I had a pretty rough time with it and it took ages to settle down.
One simple thing that actually helped me was raising my feet when using the toilet. I used a yoga ramp, but a small footstool would do. It changes the angle and lets gravity do more of the work, so you’re not straining as much.
It sounds minor, but it made a real difference.
Not medical advice—just something that helped me through a pretty uncomfortable part of treatment.
If others have found things that help, worth sharing—these are the bits no one really talks about.
