I’m still in it

Diagnosis, remission, recurrence—and writing from within the experience rather than safely beyond it.

Hi everyone. I’m Pete, based in Brisbane, Australia.

In 2023 I was diagnosed with HPV+ throat cancer. Seven weeks of radiation, three rounds of chemo, a PEG for nutrition. Finished treatment and got the all clear on the PET scan.

Then in 2025 it came back. I’m currently in treatment—chemo and immunotherapy.

So I’m not posting from the other side of this. I’m still in it. But I’ve been through enough to know that you can carry more than you think you can.
